Heritage Projects
Current Heritage Projects
As a charitable organisation focused on combatting socioeconomic deprivation through the restoration and refurbishment of historic buildings and public spaces, ICT is currently seeking to preserve the heritage of the following capital projects:

The Water Tower and Garden
We are bringing one of Intra’s most iconic landmarks back to life. The Grade II listed water tower is set to be transformed into a welcoming community hub and garden space.
Built in 1810 and rich with local history, the tower has stood unused for years. Our plan will restore this remarkable building, open it to the public, and create a space for people to meet, create, and enjoy a unique piece of Intra’s heritage. An historic place, reimagined for our community’s future.

Chatham Unitarian Church
We are giving a new purpose to one of Intra’s most characterful historic buildings. The 1889 church, once a hub for Rochester and Chatham’s nonconformist community, is now posed for revival as a vibrant cultural and community venue. We are exploring how to upgrade the space to create a beautiful heritage building, ready to come alive again for everyone.
Previous Heritage Projects

Heritage Open Days | Intra Trail
Funded by HSHAZ, and organised by Sun Pier House, alongside local businesses and faith groups, this programme of events opened up to the public, buildings and gardens of historical interest: Chatham Memorial Synagogue, Chatham House, the Hospital of Sir John Hawkins, Chatham Unitarian Church, and St. John’s Church; as well as historic ships and barges moored on the river Medway.
Throughout the course of the week, up to 1,000 visitors were able to enjoy local history walks and talks, films on local history, costumed historical characters, and a ghost trail for children and families.
