Our History
Intra Community Trust (ICT) grew out of the Old High Street Intra Cultural Consortium, a partnership formed with Medway Council to deliver the High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) cultural programme from 2020-2024.
Supported by Historic England, Arts Council England, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the programme set out to protect the distinctive character and significance of the Star Hill to Sun Pier conservation area – while helping the neigbourhood to grow in a sustainable, community-centered way. Through this work, the Consortium championed heritage-led regeneration, creative activity, and new opportunities for local people.
And as the HSHAZ programme drew to a close in 2024, one thing was clear: the progress made in Intra needed to continue. Determined to build on this momentum, the Consortium came together with a shared vision for the area’s future. That vision - and the commitment behind it – led to the successful transition into what is now Intra Community Trust, recognised as a Heritage Development Trust. Today, ICT carries forward the energy, partnerships, and ambition sparked during the HSHAZ years, ensuring Intra’s regeneration remains in the hands of the community it serves.
